For Marinara Sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 tsp dried basil (you may sub with 2 sprigs of fresh basil)
2 cups tomato passata (you may sub with tomato puree)
Salt, freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
Pasta (we used Fusilli, you may sub with other type of you choice)
3 links pork sausages (we used 1 link each of Sheboygan Bratwurst, British Banger and Italian Sausage. May sub with any sausages of your choice)
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water, stirring occasionally, until al dente; follow time suggested on the pasta package.
Coat sausages with droplets of oil. Heat skillet over low-medium heat. Sear sausage until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Set aside.
Heat oil in a same skillet over medium heat. Cook onion, stirring occasionally, until very soft, 8–10 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until very soft, about 5 minutes; stir in basil. Add passata (or tomato puree), stir until well combined; Season with salt and pepper and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat; simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thick. Season with salt and pepper.
Place pasta at one side of the container; You may add a little pasta cooking water if the pasta turns dry.
Thickly slice sausages, about 1/2 inch. Place sausages on the opposite of the container.
Spoon over marinara sauce. Garnish with basil.
